Mission Statement

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.

In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class. Membership is open to individuals with an AA degree or its equivalent.

AAUW’s mission is to promote education and equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change.

Since 1881, AAUW has been the nation’s leading voice promoting education and equity for women and girls.  Membership provides access to fellowship with like-minded people, access to scholarships and grants, leadership and networking opportunities. On the California state level (aauw-ca.org) AAUW provides branch support, leadership, training, and public policy. Our branch is a member of the East InterBranch Council (SEIBC) which provides sharing of ideas with other branches and leadership training. SEIBC branch members include: Big Bear, Diamond Bar, Hemet-San Jacinto, Ontario-Upland-Rancho, Palm Springs, Redlands, Riverside, San Gorgonio, Temecula, and Victor Valley.

National level membership provides links to research, campus leadership, STEM education, public policy, case support, educational funding, global connection, member leadership, salary negotiation and program support through Program in a Box.
